DUNEDIN BOY SINGER.
HE TURNING TO NEW ZEALAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Mr. A. W. Mac Donald, father of Lex Mac Donald, the Dunedin boy singer, returned by the Maunganui from Sydney to-day. He said that on account of the number of profitable contracts the boy had yet to fulfil, he would not return until September 27. While in Sydney, Lex made six records. The usual number for any artist was two, and as in the making of two it was necessary to sing 10 songs, it could be realised that the boy had little time for any concert work.
Artistically and financially, the trip has proved "a wonderful success. Lex had signed a contract with a recording company to return to Australia if it wanted him to do so, and in the meantime not to record for any other company. The party had been bombarded with offers to finance the boy, but as the funds for the trip had, been provided in order to have his voice recorded, these could not be considered.
After his return to New Zealand the boy was booked to sing at Nelson and there was also a possibility of a tour of the main centres.
