A BETTER SALE. HIDES UP TO 4%D. At to-day's sale of sheepskins and hides there was a full attendance of overseas and local buyers. Competition was keen, and exporters were bidding freely. The bulk of the offering of hides was secured by the local tanners, while sheepskins had better demand from the exporters. Following are to-day's quotations: — Sheepskins.—Dry: Fine crossbred, to 4d per lb; coaree crossbred, to 3%d; medium crossbred, 3%d; half and. three-quarter wool, to 3%d; shorn to half wool, to 2%d; quarter wools, 2%d; lambs, to 4d; pelts. l%d. Salted skins: 3/ to 3/6; .good, 2/6 to 2/9; medium, 2/ to 2/6. Hides.—Extra heavy ox, up to 4%d per Ib; heavy ox, 4%d; medium ox, 4%d; light ox, 4%d; extra heavy cow, 4%t1; heavy cow, 4%d; medium, 4%d; light, 4%d; yearlings, 4%d; best calf, to 5%d; good, 4%d; inferior and damaged, 2%d.
