EX-SOLDIERS' REUNION.

GATHERING AT NEWMARKET. The newly-formed Newmarket branch of ex-servicemen held its first reunion last week. Mr. T. Laffey, president of the club, presided. Addresses were given by the Mayor of Newmarket, Mr. S. Donaldson, Mr. Laffey, Messrs. F. W. Schramm and J. A. Lee, M.P.'s, and by Captain Volkner, late of . the King's Shropshire Light Infantry, who was a prisoner of war in Germany. His accounts of conditions in prison camps in Germany, and the means used to escape from the camps, greatly interested his audience. A musical entertainment was also much enjoyed.
