TALLOW, HEMP, EGGS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated September 10, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow. —Market firm but quiet. Moderate business has been done at values nominally unchanged. Hemp.—Manila: Market quiet, but steady at last rates- quoted. Sisal: Market firm, with good inquiry. Sellers reserved. Closing value for No. 1 good marks for September-November shipment, £16 10/. New Zealand: Market quiet. Small business has been done in common at £14. Nominal closing values for September-October shipment, highpoints £15 15/ and fair £14 15/. Eggs.—Market very firm. English, national pack, 14/6 to 18/6; ordinary pack, 15/ to 16/; Danish, 12/6 to 15/. DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. Trengrouse and Nathan, Tooley Street, dated September 12:— Butter.—ll4/ to 115/ per cwt. Cheese.—White, 06/ per cwt; coloured, 61/. Both markets firm. BRADFORD TOPS. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, September 12. The Bradford wool market is very firm, but high prices arc checking business. THE PRICE OF GOLD. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON. September 12. Gold is quoted at £5 18/ per ounce. BUSINESS IN LEAD. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, September 12. Imports of lead have been 21,907 tons, including 11,938 from Australia. Exports have been 825 tons.
