PERSONAL.
Sir James Gunson, member of the Railways Board, leaves for Wellington to-morrow. The Rev. Brother Benignus returned to Auckland this morning after a brief visit to the South. Mr. E. C. Turner left last evening on a short visit to Christchurch. He expects to be back about the end of next week. Mr. R. M. Barrer, of Maeterton, left by the Rangitata to-day en route to Cambridge University to continue his studies. The Hon. J. TrevetMck, M.L.C., and the Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited express. Captain J. F. Spring-Brown, commander of the Aorangi, who is on leave, is in Auckland at the Grand Hotel. He is accompanied by Mrs. Spring-Brown. ; Mr. G. H. Mackley, assistant general manager of New Zealand Railways, is in Auckland on a short business visit. He arrived by the Limited express this morning, Mr. Maurice Ralph, representing Messrs. J. and N. Tait, arrived in Auckland this morning to make arrangements here for concerts by Madame GalliCurci. He is at the Grand Hotel. Mr. H. N. Parton, M.Sc., assistant lecturer in chemistry at Canterbury College, left to-day by the Rangitata, He has been granted two years' leave of absence to do reeearchc work in physical chemistry at King's College, London. Mr. H. Bould, of Levin, a well-known New Zealand sportsman and a member of the Acclimatisation Society Council, is leaving the Dominion for South Africa on a business trip. In 1929 Mr. Bould promoted a big-game hunting expedition, and spent about nine months in Africa, during which he penetrated as far as Lake Tanganyika. He obtained, one of the finest collections of big game trophies held in New Zealand.
