SESSIONS NEARING CLOSE, QUICKENING OF INTEREST. WEEK-END PROGRAMME. One result of the united campaign of Christian witness, state ministers in the city, has been the quickening of reli. gioue feeling, which is manifest every* where. Throughout the week large, congregations have gathered in the city and the suburbs. The campaign closea this week-end, and the final demonetra* tion will be a united rally in the Town Hall on Monday night. The campaign, one of the city's lea<Jt ing clergymen explained, had brought together those belonging to different denominations, and had helped each to understand and to appreciate the point of view of the other. "That alone v/il\ ' have made the effort worth while," he added, "and perhaps it may bring union a little nearer." Non-churchgoers have been included in the sphere of activities of the cajri-r paign. A large number of families in the urban area, nominally church mem 7 bers, were visited, aiidiwhere there were children they wore invited to become pupils at the Sunday school. Services To-morrow. Large congregations have attended the services taken by Archbishop Averlll every evening in St. Mary's Cathedral. The mission there closes to-morrow, when his Grace will preach in the morning on "Progress or Stagnation?" and in the evening on "Free or in Bonds?" A united open-air 6ervice, conducted by the ministers of the Ponsonby churchee, will be held in Point Erin Park :n the afternoon. An after-church united service will take place in the Mount Eden Congregational Church in the evening. An afternoon mass meeting for men in the Salvation Army Congress Hall will be addressed by Canon C. H. Grant Cowen. The week's mission conducted in St. Sepulchre's Church by Captain Squires, of the Church Army, will con', elude at a thanksgiving eervice in the evening. A united final demonstration will be held in the Town Hall on Monv day evening. Mount Eden Area. Successful united church meetings have been held in the Mount Eden area. The campaign began last Sunday with an interchange of pulpits at the morning service, as an expression of unity and good will. On Tuesday evening there was a well-attended united service in the Presbyterian Church, when the Revs. Leonard H. Hunt (Presbyterian), S. J. Werren (Methodiet) and R. C. Roberts (Congregational) took part, Mr. Robert* giving the address. . A similar service was held on Tues« day evening in the Moun-t Eden Baptist Church, when the Revs. R.' Stowards (Baptist), R. C. Roberts and S. J. Werren took part. . A successful united women's inspirational eervice in the View Road Congregational Church. Hall drew a fine attendance on Thureday afternoon. Afternoon tea at the elope, prepared by the local church ladie* afforded opportunity for social fellowship.
The campaign will close in the JMqunt Eden area on Sunday, when a united youth rally at 3 p.m., in. the J"?ea Methodist Church, and an after-church united mags meeting at 8.15 in the View Road Congregational Church will supple, ment the ordinary church services of the day.
