FATHER AND CHILD.
CITY APARTMENT TRAGEDY.
PARENTS PREMEDITATED ACT.
The inquest concerning the deaths of William Charles Morrison, aged 50, and his son John Albert Morrison, five years of age, who were found dead in bed in a city apartment house on Sunday, July 31, was completed by the coroner, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., yesterday afternoon.
The evidence showed that Morrison was living apart from his wife, and that he was in the habit of having his son to his apartment for week-ends. When the two bodies were discovered in bed the windows of a front room were closed and gas was escaping from a heater, which was turned full on but not lighted.
The coroner returned a verdict that both father and son were poisoned by coal gas. "It cannot be that the occurrence was accidental, because the precautions taken by the father prelude the possibility of an accident," said Mr. McKean. "The act had apparently been premeditated by Morrison. I find that the father's death was brought about by his own act and that the child's death was brought about by the father."
