DEVONPORT FIRE BRIGADE.
The Devonport Municipal Fire Brigade held its annual reunion on Saturday, when there was a very large' attendance present, including visiting firemen. The Mayor, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, presided. Amongst those present were Messrs. A. Harris, M.P., H. S. W. King, E. Aldridge, J. Fletcher, and W. K. Howitt, as well as the borougli councillors. Superintendent Follas, who has been indisposed for some time, was given a hearty welcome. The large gathering stood in silence as a tribute to the memory of the late Dr. J. J. Eade, who was honorary surgeon to the brigade. Superintendent H. Follas and his deputy, H. Stevens, were presented with their 23 years' service bar, and Fireman Whitley with a bar for 17 years' service, and Dr. de Clive Lowe, honorary surgeon, and Firemen O'Brien and Fletcher, medals for five years' service. Trophies won on Labour Day were presented as follows: Championship cup, Fireman Colley; _ Bech Shield, Fireman Hemingway; Northcote Challenge Cup, Firemen Page, Cooper and Clark.
