MET IN AUCKLAND TO-DAY.
DALMATIAN AND HIS BRIDE.
SWEETHEARTS 20 YEARS AGO
Separated, from a sweetheart of his boyhood days for 20 years, a young Dalmatian resident of Auckland met her again to-day as his wife.
Tho bride, now in her 2Sth year, is a native of Podgoria, Yugoslavia, and her marriage with Clem Melish took place by proxy in August last year in her home town. Tho bride came out with two of her countrywomen, one of whom was arriving with three children to join her husband, whilst the other had been spending a holiday in her native country.
Despite tho fact that the reunion of the newly-married couple took place before tlio eyes of Customs officials and Press representatives in the saloon of tho Maunganui, the parties were not greatly embarrassed. After an affectionate embrace, they agreed to poso for a photograph on the deck of the vessel.
Customs officers had some difficulty in checking the passports of the parties, but Mr. M. A. Ferri, Dalmatian interpreter, of Auckland, quickly recognised tho marriage certificate, and explained that no further formalities cr church ceremonies would be necessary.
Husband and wife started their honeymoon tour hand, in hand as tlicy walked down the gangway.
