STRUCK A CENTRE POLE; ' '■ W- : Fatal head injuries were received by George McLean, a middle-aged tram conductor, in Lower Queen Street, Onehunga, yesterday afternoon. He was leaning out from the hack of the car. when his head struck a centre pole and knocked him into the roadway. The tram travelled some distance before the motorman was aware of the accident. 'He was taken to the Auckland Hospital, and was found on arrival to be dead. Deceased lived in Quadrant Road, Oneliunga. : ■ . Evidence of identification was given by a son-in-law of deceased at the inquest, which was opened by Mr. F. H. Levien, SJM., this morning, and then adjourned sine die.
