WEAVERS' STRIKE.

MOTION NOT FAVOURED. RUGBY, August 5. At a meeting of the general council of -the Weavers' Amalgamation in Manchester,. a proposal for a general strike of weavers throughout. Lancashire was put forward by the Nelson weavers. The proposal was not carried. A total of 152 delegates from 30 districts attended, and it is understood that after a long discussion the meeting agreed to adjourn and leave the whole question in the hands of the central committee. The general secretary stated that lie expected that negotiations with the employers would be resumed to-day.
