A KNITTED FROCK. FOR BABY'S WARDROBE. (Conducted by TINKERBELL.) My Dear Girls, — And still the knitting craze is as popular as ever! Would you rather be crocheting, I wonder? Let me know. Illustrated below is a dainty little frock for a baby girl. The measurements are: —Length from shoulder, 14 inches; width all round at under-arm, 21 inches; length of sleeve from underarm, three inches. To make it you will require 2oz of 3-ply white wool [ and a small quantity of pink. Also two

yards of pink ribbon and four pearl buttons. No. 8 knitting needles are used. Work at a tension to produce seven stitches to the inch measured over the plain smooth fabric. The Back: Cast on 134 stitches. Knit one (knit six, purl six). Repeat bracketed instructions to the la6t sjjtch. Knit one. Repeat this row five times. Seventh row: Knit one (purl 6, knit 6). Repeat bracketed instructions. Knit one. Repeat this row five times. Now repeat these entire instructions, commencing from whfere you cast on the stitches. 25th row: Knit plain. 26th row: Knit one. Purl to the last si itch. Knit one. Repeat the 25th and 26th rows until work measures 10 inches from commencement. End with a purl row. To Make up the Frock: With a damp cloth and hot iron press carefully. Sew up the side and under-arm seams. Using the pink wool, work two rows of double crochet round the lower edge and neck, making two loops on each front shoulder in the 2nd row. Sew buttons on the back shoulder to correspond. Thread ribbon through the holes at waist and cuffs. Your frock is now finished, girls, and it will make a very dainty and charming gift for some lucky little baby. A Busy Bee, in a letter, state* that she is experiencing'- difficulty in following one or two of the directions given recently for knitting cosy bedroom slippers. For the benefit of those similarly puzzled the following information is given:—ln the second row the last two stitches (which are white) are slipped, not knitted.
