CHURCH PROGRESS.
The Church of England is increasing its membership, according to statistics in the Official Year Book of the Church. The number of persons 011 the parochial electoral roles increased from 3,627,104 in 1929 to 3,655,630 in 1930. As many as 75 per cent of the children born 111 1930 were baptised in the Church. The Church's army of workers last year in 12,801 parishes in England included^- — 12,807 incumbents, 4135 curates, 163.509 churchwardens and sidesmen, 161,700 Sunday school teachers, 323,147 choristers. 22,431 organists, 45,944 bellringers, 61,470 district visitors, 4500 licensed lay readers, 120J sisters, 227 deaconesses. There were many thousands of other paid and voluntary workers. Sunday school scholars totalled 1,783,824, and Bible class students 437,607. There were 430,621 baptisms, and 196,570 people were confirmed. Easter Day communicants numbered 2,261,857. A total of £6,833,002 was raised iu voluntary contributions.
