OLD OFFENDER GIVEN CHANCE. "This man has a very bad list of previous convictions, many being for false pretences, but he is old now, and I know he has been making a good fight to go straight this last few years," said Detective Sergeant Kelly, referring to John Lennox, an old man who appeared at the Police Court to-day and pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining 5/ from a taxi driver by false representation. Lennox was ordered to make restitution, and the magistrate adjourned the ease for a vear.
