THE DAIRYING YEAR.
MORRINSVILLE COMPANY. SUPPLIERS WELL SATISFIED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday. Complete satisfaction with the way the directors of the Morrinsvillc Co-operative Dairy Company had handled the company's affaire during the most difficult season yet experienced was shown by suppliers at the tenth annual meetings of the company to-day. Mr. J. E. Lceson, chairman of directors, presided over an attendance of about 100 suppliers. Proceedings wera most harmonious, and appreciative references to the work of the directors and staff were greeted with applause. Two new records had been established by tho company this year, said the chairman, in presenting his report. The company's output for the past season was 2141 tons of butter, an increase of 285 tons, but the payout was also the lowest pn record, totalling 11.853 d per lb of buttcrfat, compared with 12.252 d last year, and 16.47U1 in 1930. However, he considered that an average payout of nearly 1/ was satisfactory, considering that other kinds of produce had slumped much worse than dairy produce. One satisfactory point was that all the butter produced was going into consumption, whereas there- were large stocks of wool in store from past seasons. .The quantity of butter imported into Britain had doubled in recent years, due to the low price bringing it within the reach of the mass of the people. The company's manufacturing costs had been further reduced in all directions, and he considered that no other company could show such a low cost of salaries and wages per pound of butter manufactured. This was due to the organising ability of the manager, Mr. A. M. Stirling, and the secretary, Mr. J. L. Faulkner, and the cooperation of all the staff. The retiring directors, Messrs. Lceson, F. 0. Kennedy and W. Findlay, and the auditor, Mr. T. J. Ryan, were re-eleeted unopposed. Resolutions were passed protesting against the proposed issue of a cool store license to a proprietary company in Auckland, and also protesting against the Dominion dairy conference proposed by tho Control Board, on the score of the expense it would entail.
