WESTFIELD WEEKLY SALE. LATE VALUES MAINTAINED. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market beef was penned in more than average numbers, including many lines of well-finished good quality cattle. There was a steady demand, with late values ruling in most cases. Extra choice ox sold to 21/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 17/ to 20/; ordinary and plain ox, 14/ to 10/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 18/ to 20/; ordinary cow beef, 12/6 to 17/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £8 15/ to £9 12/6; heavy, £7 15/ to £8 32/6; lighter, £6 10/ to £7 12/6; light, £5 to £G 7/6; unfinished and small, £3 10/ to £4 15/. No extra heavy prime young cows and heifers were penned. Heavy, £5 to £!5 17/6; lighter, £4 to £4 17/6; light, £3 to £3 17/6; other cows, £2 to £2 17/(5.
Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., re-port:—To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market our beef pens contained 398 head, comprising 278 steers and 120 cora and heifers, as against 181 head at last week's market. The quality was, on the whole, first-class. There wan a keen demand throughout. In odd caees values were slightly lower, but generally there was little variation from last week. Extra choice ox sold to £1 10/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 18/ to £1; ordinary and plain ox, 16/ to 17/; prime young cow and heifer beef. 17/ to 19|/; ordinary cow beef, 12/ to 16/; extra heavy .prime steers ranged dn prime from £S 10/ to £9; heavy, £7 10/ to £8 7/6; lighter, £6 5/ to £7 7/6; light, £5 10/ to £C 2/6; unfinished and small, £3 10/ to £5 7/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 5J to £5 17/6; heavy, £4 to £5 2/6; lighter, £3 to £3 17/6; other cows, £1 15/ to £2 17/6.
Dalgety and Co. report:—At our weekly Wcstfield fat stock market held to-day the offering of ox beef was heavy, which met with a steady demand. Values, except in a few isolated cases, were fully equal to late rates. Cow and heifer beef also came forward in larger numbers than last week, demand being steady at late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 21/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 18/ to 20/; secondary and plain, 16/ to 17/; prime young cow and heifer beef. 17/ to 107; secondary, 12/ to 16/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £7 17/6 to £8 12/6; heavy, £7 5/ to £7 15/; lighter, £6 10/ to £7 2/6; light, £5 12/6 to £6 7/6; small and unfinished, £4 17/6 to £5 10/. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 to £5 7/6; heavy, £4 to £4 17/6; lighter, £3 5/ to £3 17/6; other tollable cows, £1 12/6 to £3 2/6.
