THIEF IN RADIO SHOP.
SURPRISED BY OWNER. SMALL SUM IN CASH STOLEN. Returning unexpectedly to the premises of McCabe's Radios, at the corner of Queen Street and Karangahape Koad, late on Saturday afternoon, Mr. Roy McCabe disturbed a thief who had gained entry to the premises by means of a window on the first floor. Aβ he was walking through the front portion of his shop, Mr. McCabe heard a man ascending the etairs leading from the workshop at the rear. Going upstairs, Mr. McCabe found that the intruder had locked a dividing door behind him, so he rushed outside and up Queen Street to enter the upper storey and capture the thief. As he was leaving the shop by the front door he heard a door being slammed in Karangahape Road. The intruder had rushed through the Misses McCabe'e millinery shop, and made his escape by letting himself out by a door leading into Karangahape Road. About 10/ in cash was all Mr. McCabe found to be missing.
