WIN FOR WELLINGTON. EIGHT DRAWN GAMES. The 20-a-side telegraphic chess match Auckland v. Wellington concluded on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Wellington. There were 14 games completed, Wellington winning five, drawing eight and losing one. Six uncompleted games have been referred for adjudication by the referees. One point is scored for a win and half a point for a draw. The points for each team as far as the completed games arc concerned are: Wellington 9, Auckland 5. Following were the teams:— Board. The only win recorded for Auckland, at board 17, was that in which A. E. Baeyertz defeated H. E. Ashby. The match was played under the happieet conditions, and much of its success was due to the services of the telegraph operator, Mr. F. Harxison. The scrutineers on Saturday were Messrs. R. Jones, J. Black, F. Stubbs, Osmond, Fdndlay and A. Jeffreys. The captain was Mr. H. N. Maddox, and the vice-cap-tain, Mr. D. I. Jones. The referee for Wellington was Mr. F. R. Jeffreys, president o£ the Auckland Club. No word hae been received of the result of the Christchurch-Dunedin match, the winner of which will play off against Wellington within, a month. This Week's Draw. The following .is the draw for this week's round of the Auckland Chess .Club tourneys:— Championship.—Maddox v. Miller, Lees v Sullivan, Roberts v. Jeffreys, Smith v. Sale, Belton v. Pickett, Bailey v. Adams, Jones v. Addis, Wingfield, a bye. Intermediate Level.—Pudney v. Browne, Edwards v. Gale, Drott v. Roskilly, Baeyertz v. Thompson. Minor.—Stubbs v.
