AUCKLAND REPS. BEATEN.

NORTH AUCKLAND SUCCESS. WHANGAREI, Saturday. The North Auckland Football Association has every reason to be pleased with the exposition of the round ball code as displayed at Recreation Park, Hikurangi, to-day, in the match between North Auckland and a strong representative Auckland side. , , The Northern combination was almost identical with the team that wrested the Brown Shield from South Auckland this season, whilst the city eleven comprised many of those selected to represent Auckland against Otago for possession of the coveted English trophy. The weather was ideal for the match, ami the ground was in first-class order. Ihe game commenced before a good attendance of enthusiastic supporters, who were treated to an exceptionally fast and exciting contest. There is no gainsaying that the North Auckland side deserved its win, as high-class Soccer was played. As a team the local side combined with clockwork precision and completely dominated play for the better part of the game. Hazell, in goal, was as sound as a rock and he was given splendid support from the two backs, Caldwell and Buchanan. The Northern halves were a trio of clever and versatile exponents. The best of the iorwards were Ackers, Queripel and Rodgers, with Shepherd and Tuustall by no means out of the picture. Auckland's play did not reach the standard expected. As individualists they were good; the lack of cohesion amongst the backs proved to be their undoing. Morris, in goal, played a sound game. Blackie was outstanding amongst the forwards, and he gave Dunsmore the greatest of assistance. Welsh, Hislop and Wood .put in much useful work, Hislop, in particular, being to the fore. Although the Aucklanders lost the game, it must be admitted that they will greatly beneflt as a result of the experience gained. North Auckland won the toss and the visitors set the ball in action, the Northerners going straight to the attack. Queripel shot for goal, the ball hitting a post and rebounding. Stone headed to clear and J. Ackers nipped in to shoot a beauty, giving Morris no chance. North Auckland 1. Auckland 0. There was no further scoring at half time. On resuming, even play was seen for a time. The home side were combining well and opened up a spectacular movement, which ended 5n a corner. Wilson sent to Ross, again to Wilson, to Shepherd who sent high across the goal mouth to Queripel, who headed a good one. North Auckland 2, Auckland 0. The nonu sine were seen again in a clever concerted movement, the ball travelling to Shepherd, who centred to the front of the goal. Morris fumbling and letting Shepherd, who followed up fast, find the net with the utmost ease. North Auckland 3, Auckland 0. Auckland's only goal came as a result of a good forward sally. Hislop flashed into the picture to send in a "bullet-like" shot to goal from about thirty yards out, giving Hazell no chance to save. North Auckland 3, Auckland 1. . In the closing stages, North Auckland ■were pressing hard and had the city team strictly on the defence. Morris cleared from a hot shot, but Ackers immediately returned the leather with a clever piece of work, scut on to Queripel, who centred nicely, and Rodgers, who was waiting, shot an easy goal and the game ended : North Auckland 4 Auckland 1 OTAGO REP. TEAM. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. Three alterations have been made in the Otago team to meet Auckland next Saturday in a F.A. challenge match. T.
