OVERLOADING CHARGES.
TWO MEN FINED AT HUNTX.Y. ONE TO PAY £36 10/ AND COSTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ■ HUNTLY, this day. In the Huntly Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., five charges were made against John Phillip Kelly, sawmiller, at Waitoa, ■ and one charge against George McDonald, carrier, of Putaruru, of overloading, a breach of the motor traffic regulations. McDonald was convicted and fined £5 and costs. In Kelly's case the fines totalled £36 10/, with costs, in respect of each charge. The traffic inspector for the Waikato County Council, Mr. W. E. Nicholson, prosecuted. Kelly, through hie counsel, pleaded guilty. Inspector Nicholson stated that the number of charges laid waa brought about by the considerable expense caused by damage done to roade and bridges.
