CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.

ST. PAUL'S CELEBRATIONS. St. Paul's Church, the oldeet church ill Auckland, began celebrations yesterday of tho 01st anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone. Festival services were held in the church. The preacher at the morning service was the Rev. J. M. Beaufort, headmaster of King's School, and in tho evening tho vicar, the Rev. C. A. B. Wateon, preached. Mr. Wat6on referred to the history of the church and recalled that Governor Hobson was chairman of the building committee of the original church, which stood for 44 years. The exact anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone will be celebrated next Thursday, when a parishioners' social will be held. The celebrations will be continued next Sunday, when the preachers will be Bishop Anderson in tho morning and Archbishop Averill in the evening. The archbiehop will present special birthday gifte at the altar.
