BIRKENHEAD COUNCIL.

The Birkenhead Borough Council met last evening, the deputy-Mayor, Air. G. B. Hewson, presiding.

Fire Board Levy.—The levy of the Birkenhead Fire Board for the year ending March 31, 1933, is £229 15/Harbour Bridge.—The Auckland Harbour Bridge Company stated that arrangements as regards finance were still progressing and every effort was .being made to expedite matters. It was hoped that a more _ detailed reply might be sent in about six weeks or two months.

Hospital Board Levy.—The Auckland Hospital Board stated that the levy from the borough for the present year was £977. For the year 1931-32 the amount was £909, and for 1930-31 £1106. New Road in Kauri Point.—The parks committee suggested the formation of a new' road through the Kauri Point Domain, from. Balmain Road to Fitzpatriek's Bay. The road would be just over a mile in length. As access to the bays at the foot of the reserve would be an asset to the borough the council adopted the committee's suggestion.
