PRODUCE CONTROL BOARDS

" MANAGEMENT COSTS TOO HIGH." FARMERS URGE. REDUCTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Recommendations expressing the view thai, the management costs of the various produce boards are too high ami should bo reduced wore, contained in a, report presented by a special committee to t lie Dominion conference of tho Now Zealand Farmers' Union. "Wo consider the management costs of the boards are too high and should be capable of considerable reduction in sympathy with the reduced price level," stated the committee. "This should especially apply to higher-paid officials and honoraria of members of the board. We consider that the accumulated funds of the boards should now bo used in tho direction of establishing new markets in tho East and elsewhere." The committee was also of tho opinion that the boards should bo requested again to review all fixed charges, such as railway, freezing, etc., and that the boards should alter their policy in the direction of assisting in obtaining reductions in award rates. Failing a definite attempt by tho boards to establish new markets, it was unnecessary for the boards to continue collecting so much in the' levy during the present depression. Tho report was adopted.
