HORSES AT TE AROHA.
KING'S ARCHER DOING WELL. GOOD RUN PROMISING. Mr. I'. A. Swney has taken a lease of the St. Ainans gelding Carl Hertz from Mr. O. Cribb, of Waihou, up to August 1. 1934. Mr. J. Whitten's Tin Lap and rising two-year-old King Arn were entrained to Thames on Monday, where they will join the team presided over by T. Scott, who is best known as the trainer of Grand Tea. Te Aroha-trained horses are nominated for Auckland classic events as follows:— Great Northern Guineas, l!Ki'2. Schizunthus. tiigantic, Master Brierlv. Master Musk and Good Run; Gnat" Northern Derby. Good Run, .Illumination—l'oi lilly. Master Brierly and Master Musk. The two lastnamed are owned by Mr. K. l>. [lines, who won the Guineas some years ago with King Lii. Word has been received here to the effect that. Mungatoon is executing satisfactory work at Kandwiek. One morning last week, in company with Timorous, the Muskctoon gelding ran the best five furlongs of the day. He is said to be thriving on his work and may be seen in public shortly. Mr. A. Lennard's three-year-old filly by Lapidary—ldra will probably be put into work shortly. She has been well wintered. and. not being in any way overgrown, should come to band quickly. Keith Hall, who is ridden in his work by S. Tremain. will .-non be in the pink of condition and rend) to race, if required. before the winter is ever. This Muskctoon gelding is shaping well on the tracks and developing into a very nice type. Arch Eagle is being leased by .Mr. N. D, Runiney to a local sportsman and will be raced in the same interests as Lucky Alice. He is now nearly at the top of his form. and well placed should easily pay his way. C. 10. Mallowes is keeping King's Archer up to the mark, and the Marble Arch gelding is looking very well. He is to be nominated for events at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting, and if the tracks are not too heavy will be among the contestants. J. W. Chandler will probably join up with I\. B. Hines , stable at Te Aroha West, where there will be three or four thoroughbreds in work. Judging by the manner in which the Scherzo filly Schizanthus executes her track work she is likely to develop into a stayer. The bay is thickening up nicely, and owing to the splendid state of the tracks she is benefiting by the tasks allotted her. Good Run is now shaping up nicely and striding out more freely on the tracks. On account of his size—for he is quite the bigcest thoroughbred for his age in the district—he may take time to strike his best form, but the. wisdom of not hurrying the Hunting Song gelding will in due course be recognised.
