TRACK GALLOPS.
WORK AT ELLERSLIE LORD AINTREE SPRINTS FAST. GOOD JUMPING DISPLAY BY NEIL. The weather was dull and cold during training operations at Kllerelic this morning, but there was not a great deal of fast work. No. 1 grass track, the sand, tiin and two-year-old tracks were available, while there was rioiiie. schooling over the big fences on the flat. The going was good for this period of the year. Lord Aintree and Hispania were the lirst, out, the former getting a break on hits companion at the half-mile post, and finishing several lengths in front in 31s. It was a first-class effort on Lord Aintree's part, lor he carried a good weight and linished on well. Good Idea did strong work, running her last round in 2,2 --3. The last six furlongs took 1.23. and tie final half-mile .V> ,')-.">s. This mare is a la/iy worker while galloping alone, and would have done better with a companion. Bright Flower. the Pantheon-Dora V Double filly, the Pantheon—lodine (illy and Charsong. who got the worst of the start, jumped away at the halt-mile peg. and after running the lirst furlong in 12 '3-s*. completing the gallop in r>2 3-ss. This was a useful work-out for those maidens, and they arc all thriving well on their work. Marching Song and Hawthorn registered 40 2-5.1 for three furlongs, and got to the end of six furlongs in 1.23 3-j. Them was little between them nt the finish. JSoth horees worked well. Kiltowyn and Ornamental were timed to run five furlongs in 1.8 4-5, with the former showing to most advantage at the finish. Both these novices promise to be in good order for the spring fixtures. Corinax .and Manawhenua hopped away from the six-furlong post and ran home in 1.21 1-i'. the final three furlongs taking 40 l-ss. They finished on terms. Both horses infused plenty of- dash into their work. General Lu and Egyptian King were allotted a round, which they covered in 2.5 2-.1, the last six furlongs taking 1.28 1-5, and the final half-mile 5S 3-ss. The only horsey to school during the morning were Neil (Mcßne), ALwent iCraddock), Kanichamchu (Lark) and Dominican (E. Rae), who were companions over the steeplechase fences on the flat, giving a safe display. Xeil and Kamchameha cantered round and jumped the same fences again. Xeil gave a firstclass exhibition, and Absent and Kamehameha also fenced well. Others to do useful tasks were: Jewelled Girdle, L'atoma. Croupier, Vandyke. Horowhenua. Hampton Park. Royal Survey. Patutahi, Wee Pat. Deniylus, Trace. Theepis, Jmamiut, Moonfleet, Mabkill, Haakon, Desert Star. Thunderstorm. Supreme Ruler, Tarporley, and several rising two-year-olds. Claremore has not been on the track for a few days, but is doing satisfactory work around the hills, and appears to be making a good recovery from his recent trouble.
