TE AWAMUTU TRIALS.
Protomint's Good Seven. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") TE AWAMUTU, this day. The course proper was available for fast work this morning, the trestles being 10ft out from the rails. Protomint again proved that he is in good form by running from a barrier start in company with Nassau Lady seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5. They were assisted over the last three furlongs, which took 30 l-ss, by Foreign Money. Protomint was being kept up to his work throughout. Sea lluler was sent two furlongs alone, but was not going above throequarter pace. The three yearlings, a Chief Ruler—Rapture filly, Diacquenod— Arkulus gelding, and Musketoon—Lady Viola gelding, were allotted a two furlongs' task, taking 27V25. The Musketoon gelding pleased most. Emancipation (McGregor) was schooled over four flights of hurdles on the hurdle track. He fenced nicely, and on his showing should develop into a useful performer in this department. On the plough track useful tasks were allotted Bambury, Soloist, Chateau, King's Knave, Marechal, Kanapa, the Valkyrian gelding, Trishna, the Musketoon gelding, Shamgar, Len, Loombination, Erination, and Te Homai. Yearlings to be do useful tasks on the hurdle grass were Trickling Waters, the High Art colt, the General Latour—March gelding, and the Chief Ruler—Miss Sphinx filly. Protomint leaves' for Wellington on Monday night. So far no rider has been engaged. It is possible that Nassau Lady may yet make the trip.
