POSITION IN CHAMPIONSHIP. D. I. JONES LEADING. With six rounds in the Auckland Chess Club championship completed by some of the players, an indication may be obtained of the run of the tourney, and the position is ae follows:—
Mr. D. I. Jones has 5 points, and Mr. Addis 4%. Messrs. Maddox and Sullivan have each played four games, Mr. Sullivan having three wins and a draw to his credit, and Mr. Maddox three wine and one loss, the former being a half-point to the advantage. For Monday night the draw is as follows, the first-named playing white: — Smith v. Maddox, Sale v. Lees, Jones v. Roberts, Wingfield v. Jeffreys, Belton v. Miller, Bailey v. Addis, Adams v. Sullivan, Pickett, a bye. In the intermediate level the position is:—Roskilly, 1 win. 3 losses; Gale. 4 wins, 1 loss; Pudney, 1 win, 4 losses; Edwards, 1 win, 3 losses; Drott, 5 wins, 1 loss; Baeyertz, 3 wins, 2 losses; Thompson, 2 wins, 3 losses; Browne, 1 win, 1 lose. I Minor level positions:— Linguard, 1 win, 4 losses; Halliday, 1 win, 3 losses; Stnbbs, 1 win, 2 losses; Lawson, 1 win, 1 loss; Aylett, 4 wins, 2 losses; Turner, 2 wins, 2 losses; Jones, 5 wins, 0 losses.
