ONE THOUSAND FOSSICKERS. CLOSING OF KAWARAU GATES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUXEDIN', this tiny. Tt is expected that when the Kawaran River gnto» are closed ono thousand men will be fossicking on tlio Kawarau anil Molyneux Elvers. The river ie now lower than at any time during any previous closing. The gates are- really being closed for the benefit of unemployed and there is ii very favourable prospect of men getting a, fair amount of gold. If havd frosts continue the dam will probably bo closed for several weeks.
