RULES RUMPUS.
ENGLISH DECISIONS. N.Z. WANTS RECONSIDERATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Dissatisfaction at the recent action of the Rugby Union in England in ordering the discontinuance of two long-standing Rucby customs has prompted the New Zealand management committee to take immediate steps to have the matter reconsidered by the English authorities. Information as to what is being done is being given all unions, and Australia is also being advised. A letter from the management committee states: —"It seems from communications we are receiving from unione that the non-placement of injured players and remaining on the field at half-time do not meet with general approval. However, we have agreed to abide by the rules of the International Board and, in the meantime, must carry out ite instructions regarding rules." The letter states that strong representations are being made to the Rugby Football Union, and the following cable hae been sent to the New Zealand Union's representative in London, Mr. Cecil J. Wray, which will be. followed by a letter to the Rugby Union:—"Our instructions regarding replacements and leaving the field are causing widespread dissatisfaction throughout unions and clubs here and in Australia. Please make etrong representations to the English Union that, as these matters do not affect the playing of the game, and, in view of the practice of long-standing here, they grant us a dispensation to replace injured players and for players to leave the field at half-time. The general opinion hero is that the replacement of injured players is more sporting, and experience proves that the privilege is not abused."
