BET WITH CONSTABLE.
PUBLISHED DOUBLE CHART. GILL FIXED £10. In connection with a charge of publishing a double chart, brought against Jonathan Gill, at the Police Court last week, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. delivered oral judgment yesterday. "I have read all the cases quoted by counsel for defendant, and I have decided that defendant must be convicted," said the magistrate. "There was the uncontradicted evidence of a constable who made a bet with Gill and also received a double chart from him." Gill was fined £10 and costs, or one month's imprisonment. Counsel intimated that he intended to appeal against the decision.
