BRIGHT ADVENTURE.

When Colonel Granby, of the secret service, on his way to be married in London, had a message slipped under tho collar of his coat by another agent, ho should not have been greatly surprised when his bride was reft from him at tho beginning of their honeymoon. Summoning to Paria hie former associates in similar adventures he chases tho abductors to the Alps, enlists tho aid of a mixed party of young holidaymakers, and after much excitement, resumes his honeymoon. The adventures are rather fantastical, but the bright etylo of the book, and tho zest for life that it depicts givo it a charm that raises it out of the ruck of its class. Julia., the bride, is a very attractive young woman of spirit and wit, and the silly-looking creature on the dust-cover does her a grave injustice. Those who care for alpine sports will find a special interest in this talc. But in thanking Mr. Francis Beeding for "Taking it Crooked" (flodder and Stoughtou f, we would like to know how Julia, with her hands tied -behind her back in the car, managed to write a name legibly on tho glass of the wristlet watch that the dropped for a clue.

"The Happy Murderers," bv Victor Bridges (Hodder and Stoughton), is another story of adventure which lias something in flip telling that gives it a touch of distinction. A London artist and his attractive model are involved in a net of crime, and their experiences a<3 investigators and victims are described with pleasant wit and sentiment.
