KILLED INSTANTLY.
CHILD IN NELSON STREET. RAN UNDER LORRY. CEUSHED BY REAR WHEEL. A street accident, resulting in the instant death of a six-year-old child, June Lilian Draper, occurred just before noon in Nelson Street. She was struck by a heavy milk wagon, the rear wheel of which passed over her body. The child was the eldest of the four children of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Draper, of 117, Lower Nelson Street. Upper and Lower Nelson Streets are divided by ;i high bank, along the top of which runs a etout rail fence. .It is believed that the child came from behind the fence as the wagon, driven by Mr. Charles Ratcliffe, was going towards the city, and that she ran under the rear portion. The driver did not see her, and did not know of the accident until he felt the impact.
