MODEL YACHTING.

CLUB FORMED AT PONSONBY. At a meeting hold in the rooms of the I'onsonb.v Cruising Club last evening, it was decided to form a model yacht club for the youths of the district. Mr. \V. A. Wilkinson, who presided, said that thanks to the efforts of Mr. \V. T. Matthews much interest had been taken in building and nailinc model yachts in X'onsonby, since the end of the yachting season. They had a splendid sheet of water enclosed by the boat harbour wall, and the sport should go ahead. The knowledge gained in sailing a model was useful training for bigger boats and it was possible that future Cornwell or Sanders Cup crews might be drawn from their members. It was resolved to form a club under the name of the I'on son by Model Yacht Ciul), and the following officers were elected :— Patron, Mr. 10. TI. Northcroft; president, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson : Olub captain, Mr. W. T. Matthews: lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. Tj. Matthews; committee, Messrs. It. Murphy, O. Robinson. 1!. I'.lackle, N. Matheson, T. Quinn, T. Ireland and E. Sellers. It was decided to hold races for 2ft models and for all-comers, fortnightly during the winter, the first to be held this week-end. Over 20 members were enrolled, and several trophies promised.
