BIG WINTER MEETING ENDS. BILLY BOY TAKES STEEPLES, MANAWHENUA'S YORK HANDICAP. ROYAL VISITOR AND TOWN BEAUTY SCORE
The Auckland Racing Club's Great Northern meeting is terminating at Ellerslie in sunny weather, before a fair attendance. The track is heavy after recent rain. Town Beauty again justified the confidence of many supporters and won the Tamaki Steeples from Monetize and Absent. In the Orakei Hurdles, Royal Visitor was first home from Paddon and Biform. In the mile flat race, Manawhenua got the verdict from the consistent Sunny Sky and Historic. Billy Boy was the victor in the Winter Steeplechase, Lucess and Copey filling the minor places. High Pitch accounted for the second leg of the jumping double scoring in the Campbell Hurdles from Cruachan and lNassock.
