MORE LIFE IN MARKETS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. There has teen more life in the produce market during the last few daj's than for a long time. Potatoes have further advanced. Prompt deliveries are quoted to-day at £5 17/6, f.0.b., s.i., Junes, £6, and Julys, £6 15/. A fair amount of business has taken place in prompt and Juno deliveries. August-September deliveries are quoted at £7 10/. The Waipiata sailed on Saturday night with approximately 12,000 sacks from all Southern ports. She will arrive in Auckland to-morrow. The Wairaarino is due to sail to-night with only a small consignment of a few hundred sacks from Lyttel- ' ton and 800 from Timaru. Prices to farmers for prompt potatoes are £5 a ton. ; l'armer3 are not very keen sellers at this price.
Onions have met with a meteoric rise since the week-end. They advanced in quick stages from £11 to £12 and then £13 a ton f.0.b.. s.i., and sales arc reported to have taken place at up to £14, with sellers asking £15. The price to growers is nominally £11 10/ and upwards, but there are not many onions in the growers' hands.
