FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES. BUSINESS IS FAIR. A fair number of sales were recorded on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday afternoon, and two more were added at this morning's call. At the fresh bidding the general tone was rather dull, with a. yood demand fo_r ;i lew special lines. The banking section was quiet. Buyers lor National of Australasia dropped tlieir offers to £9 15/, and for National of New Zealand £3 0/0 was the best bid. .New Zealands were wanted at £2 2/9, with holders asking £2 3/. The insurance class was firm, and buyers for, South British were offering £2 10/. Union Steams eased a fraction, with a pale at 19/3, after which buyers dropped to 18/0. Buyers for Colonial Sugars moved up to £40 5/. Waihis were easier, being on offer at 15/. Government stocks were unchanged. At the Noon Call. Business brightened up during the morning on 'Change, quite a number of sales being reported at the noon call. Government loans had no transactions, but all four issues of the 5V6 per cent (1937) 'firmed to buyers at £99, with no quoted sellers. Insurance shares had some attention, sales being reported in New Zealands at £1 16/7%, and South British at £2 10/6. A sale of the latter stock was made in the room at £2 10/0, at which figure there was still a buyer. Bank of New South Wales shares advanced in price, sales being reported at £25 2/0. Buyers then offered £25, and a seller asked live shillings more. NewZealand National Bank shares eased to sellers at £3 2/0, but the buyer offered £3. Colonial Sugar shares were also better, a sale being reported at £40 10/. National Mortgage eased one shilling, the seller quoting £l 15/. New Zealand Breweries were inquired lor at £1 4/3, and the selling price was dropped to £1 4/8. A sale was reported of Farmers' Fertiliser shares at 12/, and Farmers' Trading were offered at 3/9, with buyers at 3/3. Inquiry was made for Woolworth's preference shares at £1 3/6, and the seller dropped his price to £1 4/3. In mining shares transactions were reported of Golden Point at 5',4d, and Blackwater !Minea at 8/6.
