ACTIVITY OF UNION OFFICIALS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, this day. As the State mine is affiliated with the West Coast Union, .uid although it is not directly concerned in Che proposed new agreement, it automatically becomes idle.

The James mine wae to work to-day, hut union officials went out and stopped men going into the inins.

Mines not affected include Blackball (employing 150 men) and 23 co-opera-tive mines on Crown and Harbour Board lands.
