DEATH OF SYDNEY WOMAN. (Received 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The death is announced of Mrs. Grace Poole Ziele, aged 8(3, who was married at Clyde, Central Otago. She was a daughter of Professor and Mrs. Roberts. Her son is Dr. Herbert Ziele, of Napier. BRISBANE JOURNALIST. MR. R. S. TAYLOR'S PASSING. (Received 1 p.m.) BRISBANE, this day. The death is reported of Mr. Richard Sanderson Taylor, at the age of 65. He was on the staff of the "Brisbane Courier" for 45 years, and had been editor for the past 13 years. UNEMPLOYED RETURNS. INCREASE IN BRITAIN. (Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 6. Unemployed on May 23 totalled 2,741,306, compared with 2,622,971 in June last year. There is an increase of 89,125 since April 25, although the number of wholly unemployed has decreased by 30,761.
Temporarily unemployed have increased 114,101, which is ascribed to holiday stoppages in the textile and boot industries, and to floods causing stoppages in engineering, motor, metal and pottery trades.
