AT THE MARTS.
APPLES SELL CHEAPLY. EXPORT DELICIOUS ON SALE. CAULIFLOWERS DEARER. Owing to a misunderstanding between the Fruit Control Board and growers larger quantities of Delicious apples were recently sent forward for shipment to South America than marketing arrangements provided for. As a consequence, about 5000 cases have been thrown back on the Auckland market and 12,000 in tlic South. The Auckland quota is now being auctioned at the local marts, the idea being to quit the lot in three weeks. This addition to the ordinary supplies, which were quite plentiful, taxes the consumptive capacity of this centre, and prices foi apples generally continue low. Ripe bananas, and also supplies of ,;recn tomatoes, arrived from the Islands by the Waipahi to-day. Large quantities of lemons have been sent in, but demand proved exceptionally dull, and low prices ruled. There was only a moderate inquiry for grapes, but there was fair sale for well-coloured tomatoes.
