ROAD CONDITIONS.

BAD IN THE NORTH. MATJNGATUROTO-WAIFU. COMPLAINTS TO A.A.A. During the past few months the Auckland Automobile Association has been receiving repeated complaints regarding the condition of the Gorge section of the road between Maungaturoto and Waipu, on the main Auckland-Whangarci highway. In reply to representation made by the association to the county, the A.A.A. has been informed that the county is in communication with the Minister of Public Works with regard to adequate maintenance. The county advises that some years ago this section of the road was revoked as a main highway in order that the Public Works Department could carry out necessary improvements that had been promised by the Minister. The county is now asking the Minister to effect reasonable maintenance until euch time as funds are available for the completion of the ■work previously promised.

The association has now forwarded telegrams to the Hon. Minister of Public Works asking for his personal investigation of the matter, as road users were being subject to very great discomfort and inconvenience.
