MOTOR CYCLING.
TOUH.IST TROPHY. MOSES IS NOT COMPETING. Mr. W. Mattson, of Ellerslie, has received cabled advice from his son, Alf. Mattson, that vS. Closes, another Aueklander, would not be able to take Alf's place in the Tourist Trophy races at the Isle of Man.
A message was received by New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union officials on Thursday to the effect that Moees was willing to ride, but that he did not know whether he would be able to obtain a machine in time to qualify. Mr. Mattson immediately cabled to his sou suggesting he should put his mounts at Moses' disposal, but some difficulty has evidently arisen. The only New Zealand rider competing is Howard Tolley, of Palmereton North. The first of the three races was run yesterday, while the light-weight event Was set down for to-day and the senior for to-morrow.
