PUKETUTU ISLAND.
ROAD FROM MAINLAND. LEGAL ROUTE NOT USED. The road to Puketutu Island, Mamikau Harbour, was under discussion at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board this afternoon, when a letter was roccived from the Mamikau County Council stating that a legal road existed from the mainland to the island, but it had never been used or constructed and was in an unsuitable position.
Access to the island was maintained by a partly constructed and unlegalised road some distance to the northward of the legal road. The council suggested that the road, in use should be legalised and the legal road not in use be closed, and revert to the board.
The Harbour Board's engineer, Mr. D. HoldernesH, recommended agreement with the suggestion, the cost of surveys and other expenses to be carried by the Mamikau County Council.
