WELLINGTON FINANCES.
NO REDUCTION IN RATES. INTIMATION BY MAYOR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Consideration of the estimates for the year, the consequent striking of rates, and the passing of several formal resolutions concerning the renewal of loans, comprised the business of a special meeting of the City Council Inst nis'l't.
The Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Ilislop, made a survey of the city's finances, and intimated that there would be no reduction in rates this year, and also that the city's contribution to the National Art Gallery and Museum would be -withheld this year.
