TELLING THE NUMBER.
Here is an interesting little experiment you can try on your friends. Ask your friend to think of a number, or, if you like, his or her age; then to multiply this number by 3; to add 1, again multiply by 3, and then to add the number thought of. Now aek the reeult; when told, you will knock off the. final figure (which will be a 3), and the remaining figures will be the numbers thought of. Here is an example. Supposing you ask your father his age, nnd he says 41: — Number of father's age 41 Multiply by 3 1.23 Add 1 ■ 124 Multiply by 3 372 Add number of age 413 Strike off the final figure, and you have the number first thought of, namely, 41.
