Many readers, having no greenliouse, would bo pleased to know liow to be able to place a few sprays of bloom on their tables at this dull season. It can easily be done by gathering a few small branches of the early flowering subjects such as almonds, cherry, currant, etc., and putting them in a wiclewouthccl bottle of rainwater in which has been added a piece of charcoal. Stand this in a sunny window, and in a few days you will be Surprised at the rapid development of buds and bloom. If a small strip of bark in spiral form is removed for about 4in at the bast, of the branch it will great'y assist the process.
