MUSICIAN'S RECEPTION.

In honour of Mr. Benno Moisiewitscli. the pianist, a reception was held by the Auckland Society of Musicians in the Lyceum Club last evening. There was an excellent attendance and after a programme of delightful items the guest of honour met and talked with a large number of tliose who were present. In the absence of Mr. Eric Waters, president of the society, Mr. Barry Coney, acting-president, received the guest of honour, who was accompanied by Mr. .T. Farrell. In welcoming Mr. Moiseiwitech, Mr. Coney said that it was a privilege for the musical people of the city to have the opportunity of hearing such a well-known artist. During the evening a trio for two violine and the piano was played by Misses Lois Walls, Jean Allen aiid Dora Judson. Miss Berta Caneang "The Song of the Open" (Frank le Forge) and Mr. Coney sang "The Gentle Maiden" (Arthur Somcrvell). An instrumental trio, comprising Mise Dora Judson (piano), Mies Jean Allen (violin) and Miss Amy Stevenson (viola) played "Fantasie" (Dunhill). All the items were given an enthusiastic reception and at their conclusion supper was served.
