HARDSHIP AT WHANGAREI

WOMEN'S RELIEF COMMITTEE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, this day. At a meeting of ladies held yesterday afternoon at the invitation of the Mayoress, Mrs. W. Jonee, it wae resolved to set up a committee to provide relief for hardship arising out of unemployment.

The following officers were elected:— President, Mrs. W. Jonee; secretary and treasurer, Mre. Ransom; executive, Mosdames Jones, Crawford, Day, Elliot, Ransom, Wright, Foster, Byrne, Donaldson, Ventry-Smith, Sloane, Brown, Steele, and Acteson and Miss Heather.

Mesdames Donaldson, Crawford and Byrne were appointed representatives to the central relief committee.
