DISCUSSION" BY MEN. BRANCH MEETINGS PROPOSED. After an all-day sitting of delegates to the Northern "District Coal Miners' Union yesterday, in which the deadlock between the union and the owners was discussed, it was announced that the delegates would report to their branches. Meetings are to be hold as soon as possible to discuss the position. Tho deadlock was caused by the refusal of the owners to discuss the terms for a now industrial agreement while the Hikurangi miners remained on strike. Tho owners stated on Monday! that if the Hikurangi men did not return' to work before June 4 the conditions of' work proposed by the employers would be put into effSSpat the Wai'kato mines on that date. '
