WINTER RACING.

GALLOPS AT ELLERSLIE. LITTLE DOUBT GOES FAST. MAKE UP SCHOOLS IMPRESSIVELY. Perfect weather prevailed for training work at Ellerelic this morning, most of the galloping being accomplished on the No. 2 grass track, the going being good for this period of the year. Hurdles were erected on the outside of the course proper, and the steeplechase course was open. A number of horses also worked on the sand track. Some interesting (schooling took place, several Great Northern candidates .being eecn in action over the steeplechase course, Make L t p giving an impressive display. No. 2 Grass. The first to work on this track was Ruling King, who was sent six furlongs, taking 40s for the first three and 1.22 4-5 for the full distance. Ho carried a very light boy, but went well. Gold Money sprinted half a mile in 53 4-ss, going freely throughout. Catoina did pact; work over a couple of rounds, and is oa the improve again. Sunny t!ky, after running her first three furlongs in 41 l-ss, completed n six-furlong task in 1.22 2-5. The Cornwall Handicap candidate did her work in good etylc. Manawhenua ran his first three furlongs in 41 2-ss, and got to the end of six furlongs in 1.24 2-5. Over a similar distance Vilma, who went fast during the early part, registered 1.23. Marching Song, going easily, traversed six furlongs in 1.30 2-5. Hampton Park boat Iniamint by several lengths over six furlongs, the first three occupying 3S 3-ss, and the full distance 1.23 1-5. Imammt, who worked lazily, took 1.25 1-5. Hampton Park galloped impressively, being cased up at the finish.

Tahae Mca was doing. better than Kamehameha fit the end of five furlongs run in 1.9 3-5. Mahkill and Good Idea worked over sis furlongs, the first three taking 41 4-se, and the full distauce 1.25 l-o. blaster Lu was given strong work, being timed to run liis last six furlongs in I—7 2-5. Pull Measure was allotted a round whicli lie completed in 1.50 2-5. 'Vandyke and .Neil joined him at the six-furlong post. Vandyke and Full Measure being together at the finish, some lengths in front of Neil, the six furlongs being run in 1.23 2-5. Kiltowyn hit out freely over half a mile which he covered in 53 2-ss. Gay Cockade sprinted four furlongs in 53 l-5Sj finishing up his task impressively. Royal Survey and Tarporley were on terms after Tunning six furlongs in 1— 3-5. Both did their work in a pleasing manner. Little Doubt was too good for Gay Court at the conclusion of four turlongs in 51 4-ss. Little Doubt's efiort was most satisfactory. After schooling I'atutahi completed a round in 2.6 l-o. Haakon, Professor and Thespis were bunched in that order at the completion ot a round in 1.55 2-5. _ This „} vas a g9°d work-out for these maidens. Psychologist, Corinax and after taking oo 3-5s for their first three furlongs were timed to run six furlongs in 1.-0 . froPsychologist finished in front of Corinax, but had little in reserve, Moonfleet 'being several lengths back. Miladi was going easily in front of Silene at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.6 4-o. Irish. Chieftain and Taramoa were given an easy six furlongs, completing their task in 1.-7 j-o. Kaiboremai covered a round in 1.5/ _a-o. The Great Northern candidate Billy Boy worked over six furiongswithhgyptiaii King and after running the first thiee in 42 t-ss, Billy Boy beat his companion easily in 1.27 1-5. They afterwards trotted onco round on the sand tiack. A t slowly Glenhaupo ran. six fulongs in 1.26 3-5. Easterly and Callamart, who arrived this morning, were both out doing easy pace work on the tan and sand tracks respectively. The Jumpers. On the outside of. the course proper Appledore (Tudor) Spruig Abbp- (One Thunderstorm (T. Chaplin) and Pat 'tahi (E Garrett) were companions in a schooling bout over four hurdles. The firstnamed, who gave a good display, finished several lengths in front of Spring Abbe._, with Thunderstorm some lengths away. Patutalii fell at the third obstacle, and after being remounted he jumped the last fence in company with Spring Abbey, who was taken back again. Cat-i-mes (Preston) and Clontarf Bill (Craddock) were allotted a similar task The former went away in fiont, but alter lumping 'the first two fences, was steadied and they cleared the third fence on terms Cat-i-mes leading.her companion over the last fence and going on to finish in iront. Beau Cavalier (T. Williams) gave a firstclass exhibition of jumping over lne hurdles though inclined to jump big at several of the obstacles. This was his first school for somo time, and he showed that he still retains all his fromer jumpin Town h Beauty (H. Dulieu). Royal Reign (R Miles), Arapawa (1. Williams.), Absent (D. Craddock). and Dominican (Thompson) were associated over the big fences Dominican was pulled up after jumping the fences on the flat, the othei four going over the hill and completing their task by again jumping the fences on the flat Town Beauty was going nicely in front of Royal Reign ft the. finish, with Arapawa and Absent following in that order some distance back To ™ n , p" al cave his usual good display and Royal Reign also fenced particularly well. Make Up {Tudor), Claremore (L. Dulieu) Paris (Dempster) and .Landmark (Drinkwater) were companions over a round of the steeplechase course. Make TTn went to the front at the start and, giving a brilliant display of jumping,, led throughout the journey. Claremore, who finished next, also went pleasingly, finishing in f?ont of Landmark, who made a couple of faulty jumps on trip. Paris hit the second fence on the, hffl hard and dislodged his rider. He was mot further perservered with. WORK AT TAKANINI. HUNTINGDON GOES SORE. The middle grass track, with the poles 20ft out, was used for fast work at Takanini this morning, but the going was inclined to. cut out. Refresher and Imperial Prince were together, two lengths in front of Chief Jewel, at the end o£ six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Lady Vane pleased a little better than Foulwind at the finish of five furlongs in 1.8 4-5. Marshland, under restraint, covered a similar distance in 1.10.
