WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

KOHUKOHU. At the May meeting of the Kohukohu Institute two new membera were enrolled. The roll call, "Anything homemade," with verse attached, brought forth many interesting articles. Miss Kingham and Miss Garbollnsey. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Wark and Mrs. Cobbald. Community singing, after supper, brought a pleasant evening to a close. OMAHA AND PAKIRI. There was a very good attendance at the meeting of the Omaha and Pakiri Women's Institute held in the Leigh Hall on May 17, when Mrs. G. B. White presided. The roll call was "A humorous story." Mrs. J. Torkington gave the motto: "When things go wrong, as they so me times will, and the road you're trudging seems all uphill, and cares are pressing you down a bit, rest if you must —but don't you quit." A competition, arranged by Mrs. A. J. Matlieson, was won by Miss Moody, Mrs. W. F. Harper gaining second prize. Mrs. Bathgate was in charge of the stall. Afternoon tea was provided by the hostesses, Mesdames Rennie, Jennings, Waldenand Gubb. HIKUTAIA. A meeting of the Hikutaia Women's Institute was held in the local hall on Wednesday last. The roll call was, "Simple Cures for Simple Ailments," and the monthly competition was the darning of socks. Mrs. Barrett was the winner of the competition, and Mrs. Gray second. In order to raise money for "the unemployed it has been decided to hold a hard time dance next month. IDEAL DURING CONVALESCENCE.
